Why Choose Seadog?

  • • Seadog: Short 6–8 week course blocks; with no tuition disrupting school holidays..

    • Competitors: Continuous rolling contracts that assume you are staying indefinitely.

  • • Seadog: No notice period required; simply don’t re-book for the next block.

    • Competitors: Formal notice periods (often 4+ weeks) mean you pay for weeks after you’ve decided to quit.

  • • Seadog: Low upfront cost (approx. £66–£88 total) per half term/ £11.00 per class.

    • Competitors: Higher financial exposure via automated monthly payments and "joining fees." Around £80 per month.

  • • Seadog: Credits or catch-ups are provided if the school cancels a lesson.

    • Competitors: T&Cs often state "no obligation" to refund, even if the pool is closed or the teacher is absent.

  • • Seadog: Small groups capped at 6 children, ensuring high engagement, lots of swimming and maximum safety.

    • Competitors: Groups often reach up to 10 children, leading to less 1-to-1 time with the teacher.

Why Choose Seadog?

  • • Seadog: An independent local business run directly by the owner/instructor (Mark Fleming FIOS), offering a personal touch.

    • Competitors: Large conglomerate franchises where lesson quality and rules are dictated by a head office.

  • • Seadog: Protected by a fully qualified and seasoned RLSS Lifeguard (32133199) insured with Swim England and trained in Baby & Infant CPR & First Aid, Spinal PXB Training and qualified in AED Defibrillator.

    • Competitors: Frequently not lifeguarded and use staff with only "Pool Rescue" awards, which are basic qualifications for teachers, not for professional lifeguarding in emergency situations.

  • • Seadog: Fully Swim England Approved, following the national governing body’s premier "Learn to Swim" framework.

    • Competitors: Often follow internal franchise programs or alternative associations that may not align with standard school-age levels.

  • • Seadog: Taught by a consistent, high-level instructor (Mark) who knows every child’s specific needs and fears.

    • Competitors: High staff turnover in franchises often means rotating teachers, which can stall a child’s progress and confidence.

  • • Seadog: Focus is entirely on swimming skills and fun with no mandatory "extra" costs.

    • Competitors: Heavy focus on singing and commercial upsells like underwater photography, branded merchandise, and badge fees.

    Mark Fleming FIOS

Founder, Owner & Swim England Instructor for Swimming and Physical Education at Seadog Swim School.

I am a young, male, high energy SEQ instructor and a good read of character. I know when to dial it back if the children are overwhelmed, unresponsive, hyperactive or we are learning floating and gliding skills that require calmness.

I am excellent at defining and identifying intrinsic and extrinsic motivation whilst igniting strong desire to learn and overcome fear through a vibrant teaching aesthetic.

I am a fully accredited and insured swim school operator with 4 years experience as a Royal Lifesaving RLSS lifeguard.

Delivering swimming tuition is my passion and outside of work I enjoy scuba diving, poetry, snorkelling, open water swimming racing, volunteer charity work, learning languages, fitness classes and I have grade 8 qualification in guitar.
